Photo Albums
Humans are visual creatures. Web site visitors are an especially visual lot. Surfers tend to prefer to SEE much more than READ. Photos are most impactful when presented clearly in an orderly fashion. Interactive photo albums, also referred to as galleries, are especially engaging.
If one of your site's goals is to promote products or services, an appealing "shell" to wrap the images is important. On the left side of this page is a small sampling of different shells. A shell should match the styling of your site, be simple to navigate and quick to respond to user input.
Thumbnails, those little stamp sized images that offer a preview the larger images, are a preferred interactive means for navigating a set of photos.
Photo albums can include:
- upload function for addition of new images
- folders for image management
- text inputs for titling images and attaching wordy descriptions
- keywords to facilitate filtering of large galleries
- slide show presentation for automated viewing
- image zooming, panning, re-centering and other intensively user-interactive functions
